Berkala Penelitian Hayati Journal of Biological Researches is an international peer-reviewed, open access journal published in June and December by The East Java Biological Society. The journal formerly used Indonesian language. The first edition of this journal is Vol 1 No 1 at June 1995. It was accredited by Education and Cultural Ministry number 134/DIKTI/Kep/2001 and has been re-accredited for 26 April 2017 - 26 April 2022 by Ministry of Research and Higher Education number 32a/E/KPT/2017. Berkala Peneliian Hayati Journal of Biological Researches publishes original research, applied, review article, short communications, and educational articles in all areas of biology. Authors are encouraged to submit complete unpublished and original works, which are not under review in any other journals. The scopes of the journal include, but not limited to, the following topic areas: botany, zoology, ecology, microbiology, physiology, nano biology, coastal biology, hydrobiology, neurobiology, genetics, developmental biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, biophysics and life science. The journal is published in both printed and online versions. The online version is free access and downloads.

Every peer-reviewed article rising in Berkala Penelitian Hayati Journal of Biological Researches will be published open access. This statement means that the article is universally and freely accessible via the internet in permanency, in an easily readable format momentarily after publication. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by an editorial team. It will be evaluated whether it is suitable with our scope, has a major methodological flaw and determined a suitable reviewers. Berkala Penelitian Hayati Journal of Biological Researches uses double-blind review and the manuscript will be sent to the reviewers anonymously (Review process takes a week till a month, based on reviewer). Reviewers' comment also will send anonymously to corresponding author (paper evaluation and reviewed manuscript. The author (s) must make a revise process as soon as possible. The decision of the revised manuscript will be evaluated based on the reviewer’s recommendation from among several possibilities: published directly, need a minor revision, require a mayor revision, returned to reviewer after reevaluation revision and rejected. The Editor-in-Chief of Berkala Penelitian Hayati Journal of Biological Researches has the right to decide which manuscripts submitted to the journal should be published.

Berkala Penelitian Hayati Journal of Biological Researches published by The East Java Biological Society (PBI Jawa Timur). As such, this journal follows the guidelines for conduct, reporting, editing, publishing on ethical publication and research.
