About the Journal
Berkala Penelitian Hayati (p-ISSN: 0852-6834; e-ISSN: 2337-389X) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal in the life sciences. Since 2023, it has been published three times a year—in April, August, and December—by the East Java Biological Society.
First launched in June 1995 (Vol. 1 No. 1), the journal was originally published in Indonesian. In April 2012, it transitioned to English to reach a broader international audience. It publishes original research, applied research, reviews, and educational articles across all areas of biology. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
The journal was first accredited by the Ministry of Culture and Education (No. 134/DIKTI/Kep/2001) until 2011. It was then re-accredited by the Ministry of Research and Higher Education (No. 32a/E/KPT/2017) for the period of April 26, 2017, to April 26, 2022. Accreditation has since been extended by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2022–2026 period (Vol. 28(1) April 2022 – Vol. 32(2) August 2026) under accreditation No. 79/E/KPT/2023 (SINTA 2).
The journal has been indexed by Zoological Record (Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics) since 2011 and is also listed in DOAJ, Crossref, Google Scholar, Academia.edu, and EBSCOhost.
